27/10/05 - On The Run Shame
Families Acting For Innocent Relatives are outraged by moves to introduce legislation next month allowing so-called on-the-run republican terrorists to return to Northern Ireland.
FAIR Director William Frazer states "it is wrong to allow these people back to Northern Ireland with Amnesty in all but name. Their murdered victims can never return". This development is in considerable contrast to the treatment of those individuals exiled by the IRA, who can only return to face fear of harassment or death.
FAIR are aware that there are scores of terrorists wanted for crimes committed during the Troubles, that will never be held accountable for their devious crimes. Shame on Peter Hain for succumbing to Sinn Fein pressure to allow the so-called on-the-runs to return.
His statement that "undesirable actions sometimes had to be carried out for conflict resolution" is yet another kick in the face for victims. Their rights are secondary to the rights of the criminal.
