The revelations today that a relation of the Deputy First Minister Designate Martin McGuiness has been arrested ought to raise serious concerns about the future stability of government here. In a violent incident using firearms we see known republicans continuing to engage in terrorist criminality of the worst kind and this in any normal democracy would cause a crisis in government.
Rather we are being asked to believe that there is no problem. That Republicans have reformed and that such criminality is unrelated to their movement. It is amazing that McGuiness’s actual associations with this man, and countless others who have been convicted of terrorism does not preclude him from the highest office in the land.
The two-faced nature of security and policing must end and the ongoing criminality of Republicans must stop. The fact that their victims are calling for this must add weight to the issue. In South Armagh for instance we are expected to believe that the same fuel laundering plants in the same locations operated by the same people who were in charge three months ago are now no longer PROVO run . Wake up and smell the laundered diesel !
We will be presenting evidence to the IMC that the Sinn Fein/IRA run criminal empires in this area continue to function and are simply being ignored by the authorities. If we are to build any real peace this must stop and the authorities must now act to curb this mafia style culture. The Adams leadership may have asked the boys in South Armagh to ease off the criminality however it is clear they were told where to go. The continuing presence of gunmen in South Armagh is enough to prevent normal policing and keeps the people of that area under threat
