Amnesty Bill Offends

FAIR are disappointed that after the 2nd reading, the Northern Ireland (Offences) Bill has been passed through the House of Commons. However we are determined that the real work now begins. FAIR are aware that this bill was hard to stomach for many Labour MPs and now we shall target them and lobby intensively. It is heartening to see that some Labour MPs still have morals and conscience, unlike their leader who has stated that "this legislation will give closure to victims".

Our membership would argue that passing this bill has only opened up wounds and prolonged suffering. We feel very isolated and betrayed by our own Government; however we will regroup and join with other victims organisations to hold Parliament to their responsibilities. As citizens of the UK we, and our loved ones who gave their lives, deserve justice.

British Democracy and Judicial system used to be the envy of the world, surely now it is but a sham. Perpetrators are rewarded while victims are ignored. FAIR will continue to explore every avenue available to us to challenge this law. People everywhere must unite in their view that this is morally reprehensible.
