It would appear that Republicans are doing all in their power to glorify IRA killers, who murdered innocent members of the community in South Armagh. Michael McVerry was one of these so-called “brave soldiers”, but when the truth is revealed about him and many other IRA killers, they were cowards. He was involved in killing women, terrorised South Armagh and was one of the gang who shot Mrs Meak dead in Tullyvallen.
Here is the story of his cowardice. After an attack on Keady RUC station, two police men pursued the IRA gang responsible, with no back up. One policeman was armed with a handgun and the other with an SMG, yet they followed a heavily armed IRA unit. Thankfully they were able to shoot one of the IRA men, who was later identified as Michael McVerry and the rest of the IRA unit ran from just two policemen, like the gutless rats which they were.
The above explanation of that nights’ events is written to put the record straight. McVerry was not a hero and he was certainly not brave. Through the bravery of the two policemen on duty that night, we have got justice in the case of McVerry, but justice will be obtained through time for the rest of the IRA killers, who terrorised innocent victims throughout the Troubles in South Armagh and further afield.
