FRU Agent fears for his life

Newsletter

Former Undercover agent Kevin Fulton believes he wil1 be killed in order to stop a public inquiry into allegations of Garda/IRA collusion taking place. Sources Close to the ex-FRU soldier said the Irish government's failure to establish an inquiry into the murders of senior RUC officers Harry Breen and Bob Buchanan in the Republic has put Fulton's life on the line. They said it was clear the Irish authorities were deliberately blocking an inquiry in the hope Fulton would be permanently prevented from speaking.

"Kevin Fulton now realises his life is in imminent danger. He knows he is a target for republicans and the Irish intelligence services," said a source. "He believes he will be assassinated before he can testify to a public inquiry in Dublin. Fulton expects to become the next Billy Stobbie shot dead in the street to stop him speaking out."

However the sources revealed that Fulton had taken steps to ensure his "evidence" would be made public in the event of his death. They said the former spy" had instructed his solicitors to hand over all his original documents and tapes to victims group FAIR if he dies before the Breen and Buchanan inquiry begins work.

A spokesperson for the Irish Justice Department said there was no basis for the allegations that it was endangering Kevin Fulton's life by delaying the Breen and Buchanan inquiry. It is understood that ex- RIR soldier Fulton has also placed copies of his documents and tapes with a number of other sources to ensure they will eventually be made public.
