South Armagh victims group Families Acting For Innocent Relatives (FAIR) are currently engaged in a large scale project to raise awareness of the groups activities and the needs of victims across the Province. In a busy schedule, representatives headed by group director William Frazer have been delivering presentations to different local council committees. Several Councils have already offered support to the work of FAIR with many presentations still to take place.
The event gives a background of FAIR and the objectives of the group. It also looks at the troubled past/present in the south Armagh area and how FAIR is working towards a positive future, hopefully giving Councils an insight which could help in their own areas. Opportunities for Councillors to ask questions are also afforded.
William Frazer states 'We have had an excellent support to date from all the Councils visited and expect more developments from future meetings. I note with sadness though that representatives from terrorist linked parties avoided turning up to hear our message. I can only image that victims needs must therefore be unimportant to them."
"After several meetings we also have had considerable support for our capital projects from across the political spectrum including UUP, DUP, SDLP, Alliance and Independents. In light of this how can the Government still refuse us funding? Again the victims will not be silenced and will continue to tell the story - for by not learning from the past we shall be doomed to repeat it".
