HUNGER STRIKER BOOK RELEASE WITHIN MAZE PRISON

Next week FAIR will be releasing a book telling the truth about the hunger strikers from within the Maze prison. For too long have Republicans clouded the reality of what sort of men died in the hunger strike. They have romanticised a horrific story about criminals, gangsters and murderers to help shape their political future. We are waiting for a response from the NIO for permission to hold this launch, where a large number of victims will attend to show that we haven't gone away. We also want to show our commitment to see justice done and that the reward for evil is not glorification.

This book will delve deep into the history of these "heroes who died for the cause" and expose just how callous and evil they really were. It will also expose what was really going on behind the scenes with the hunger strikers. Through the years, perhaps because we became immune to death or were so traumatised by the troubles, it took the hunger strikes to really drive home the point of how little value Republicans placed on life, even their own.

Our community has many questions to ask in relations to the hunger strikes and answers need to be obtained as community relations continue to deteriorate. The answers to these questions are as shocking as the events they refer to. However, the horrific and manipulative truth has been clouded by years of romanticism and revisionism by Republicans. The recent stage-managed celebrations of such evil have farther divided our country and added insult to the injury of victims. This book is to give victims a voice and a right of reply to the lies and myths that have been peddled by Republicanism.
