At the eleventh hour members of south Armagh victims group FAIR met to remember those who gave their lives to protect and defend the freedoms and liberties we so often take for granted. Wreaths were laid to remember the military victims of terrorism with representatives who had served in the UDR/RIR laying wreaths to remember those that had been killed while serving in the UDR and other regiments. There was also a commemorative act made by an ex-member of the RUC on behalf of the police victims. A wreath was also laid to remember all the innocent victims who had suffered as a result of terrorist conflict.
There was a good turnout with folk representing many families associated with the group making the effort to be present at the remembrance service and minute silence.
The suffering of the innocent victims continues on to this present day but the fact that there is a specific memorial at the FAIR centre in Markethill enables reflection upon the experiences and contribution of so many from the area which is most significant at this time of year.
