TRAVELLING TO MESSINES

Members of FAIR are travelling to Messines for a Peace and Reconciliation conference to do with remembering our dead from the First World War, and quite rightly so.

A number of politicians will be there and also a number of representatives from across the board, and of course the outreach representative from Sinn Fein to the Unionist Community.

We intend to raise quite a number of issues with this so-called outreach worker because the only outreach that we know that they are doing to our community is trying to destroy it. Again here is a situation where we are told to forget and move on.

Although we are going out to Messines and quite rightly so, as it is important to remember the sacrifice that was made by both sides of the community, the sacrifice that was made here over 35 years is no different. The only difference being that the enemy are terrorists, so it is every bit as important to remember the sacrifice made in this conflict as it is to remember the victims of the conflict in France or Belgium.

Unfortunately because it doesn’t suit the political agenda in Ulster, especially on the issues of Justice & Democracy where both have been betrayed, governments and politicians want to brush everything under the carpet and allow the perpetrators to write their own version of history, which tries in some sick way to suggest that they were justified in what they did…………..the victims will not let that happen.
