FAIR spokesperson William Frazer has revealed that he is very close to revealing the names of several men involved in a string of murders in the South Armagh area in the early 1970's. The men, suspected of involvement in the Tullyvallen Massacre, have now been linked to the murder of a UDR man and the subsequent 'booby trapping' of his body.
"It is sad to note however" stated Mr Frazer "that two of these men had been arrested in the Irish Republic and were given token sentences of 9 months and 15 months for the 'toned down' charge of Handling Explosives."
"FAIR would like the Irish Government to explain why these men were never charged with the murders they committed, or why the RUC did not seek to have the men extradited back to the North. The sentences handed down for lesser charges is an insult to the victims"
Mr Frazer also assured Irish Premier Bertie Aherne that FAIR would continue to press for answers into the conduct of the Gardi in such matters.
In conclusion Mr Frazer stated "If this is the sort of information FAIR can gather, imagine what untold information the British and Irish intelligence services have hidden away. What difference could that hidden information have made during the last decades? We demand answers".
Anyone else with information on terrorist activity past or present should contact William Frazer via the FAIR offices, Markethill. All information will be treated in the strictest confidence.
